About Rich Tauber Fishing Guide Service
Rich Tauber Fishing Guide Service – From a young age, the passion for fishing consumed Rich. At just 8 years old, during a memorable trip to Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara with his father, they hired a fisherman named Ed Ando. Rich fondly remembers Ed as the best fisherman he ever encountered. This experience ignited a lifelong love for fishing. By 1977, Rich transformed this passion into a career by starting his own fishing guide service. Over three decades later, he continues to share that same exhilarating experience with others, committed to making every fishing trip unforgettable.

Rich has been a professional angler, fishing guide, public speaker and promoter his entire adult life. In fact, he has never had a “real” job, and is very proud of that. His only gainful employment has come from fishing and the outdoor industry.
His fishing career started in the early seventies. In his rookie season as a professional angler he won the “Western Bass Angler of the Year,” nudging out “Hall of Famer” Dee Thomas for the title, and is still the youngest fisherman in history to ever win that title. Consequently, four years later he won the largest organized fishing event in the world; the U.S. Open. To this day he is still the youngest U.S. Open Champion ever. In 1986 he became a full time tour angler with the “Bassmasters” on ESPN. As a professional he has qualified for the “Super Bowl” of angling, the Bassmaster Classic two times. Guiding
Rich Tauber Fishing Philosophy
Guiding and fishing is not just something Rich does on the weekends, this is his full time job. He started his fishing guide service in 1977, and today has guides available 7 days a week. However, unlike most guides, while on a guide fishing trip, the guide does not fish. After all, there is nothing worse than hiring a guide who is the first to cast at all the best targets.
Rich often shares anecdotes from his experiences on the water. For instance, one of his favorite stories involves a father and son who initially struggled to catch anything. After several hours of teaching and encouragement, they finally hooked a massive bass. The joy and excitement they experienced made the trip worthwhile, illustrating Rich’s belief that fishing creates lasting memories.
The day is yours, Rich wants to make this the best fishing experience of your life. Call or email him from the contact information at the top of the page.
