Lake Cahuma Fishing Guide Report Daily

Our guide Steve Morris has seen very steady fishing and most importantly we’re now finally starting to catch some trout on a consistent basis. Some of these trout have been up to 6 pounds. The cold weather definitely helped the trout fishing . Of course Cachuma is absolutely full of water and they’re doing their best to manage it by letting out some of the water for all the water that is still coming in through all of the creeks. Bass fishing is primarily a deeper event at Cachuma mostly in that 25 to 35 foot range with a plastic worm. All of our trout fishing has been at the dam and also over at Bobcat Canyon we have been focusing on that 2 to 15 foot range with a variety of nightcrawler flicker shad and other trout baits. www.richtauberfishing.com

Lake Casitas Fishing Guide Report Daily

Not a lot to report other than basically everyone here is getting ready for the spring fishing to explode. Water temperatures are really good 64–66°. We had a full moon a few days ago but the fish haven’t really jumped up on the shoreline like we know they will. It’s steady fishing but all of us at Lake Casitas know that the real explosion of fish moving to shallow water is probably coming in the next week or so. Lake level remains at 100% of capacity and as we talked about has been going over the spillway for a few weeks now. Water clarity was close to 20–22 feet today incredibly clear not a lot of boat traffic as I think everyone’s getting ready for the fish to jump up on the shore really quick with this beautiful band of weather in front of us. www.richtauberfishing.com

Well yesterday we got out first thing in the morning and there was snow on the mountains and water temperature was 58° there was no one on the lake very very cold in the morning but by about 10 AM it was beautiful we’re still catching decent numbers of fish we actually saw a couple of packs of bass chasing balls of shad on topwater which is incredible for this time of year. We focused most of our efforts in that 15 to 25 foot range with a plastic worm as everyone is aware of the lake is now completely full and going over the spillway it’s continuing to go over the spillway at a pretty good rate even this morning. This is only the second time that Lake Casitas has gone over the spillway since 1998 which is pretty impressive and a great sign for our future fishing www.richtauberfishing.com

Lake Cachuma Fishing Guide we had an absolutely crazy week we actually worked every single day Monday through today from sun up till sundown Steve Morris ar the helm as we grind through it. Even though we had a 5,000 pound trout plant the fishing has been difficult which is kind of mind-boggling everyone’s having trouble catching these trout the best pattern that we found is slow trolling flicker shads by the dam. Bass fishing has been an average. It was close to 80° every day with absolutely no wind. Yesterday Thursday we did catch quite a few fish and then today it was back to grinding away at it we’re catching fish every day for this lake in February that’s a little bit off so we’re hoping for a better week next week.
