Beautiful clear water and live shad to use for bait greeted our fishing guide service as were back to work at Pyramid Lake. After competing in the U.S. Open I moved our fishing guide services from Lake Casitas over to Pyramid Lake with great results. The entire week we were able to net live threadfin shad to use for bait and had excellent fishing for largemouth smallmouth and striped bass. The algae bloom is now behind us. The water is beautiful and clear throughout the majority of the lake.There are striped bass of course breaking throughout the day in various locations throughout the lake and the evening seems to be the most consistent time for the boiling stripers. Without question the best fishing remains live shad fished with little or no weight and 6 pound test line. We had days with upwards of 40 fish and it was a really nice mix of all three species.
