Lake Casitas Fishing Guide Report 07/03/2016 – Just getting home from a long Fourth of July weekend and we had some fantastic fishing at Lake Casitas in Ventura California. Water temperatures touched 79° today. Probably the two biggest changes for our guide service after the record-setting heat wave the weekend of June 18 is the water had a very light algae bloom which ignited a milk-ish white color into our otherwise vodka clear water. Just a touch of watercolor not much. That seemed to stimulate an excellent crankbait bite for the first time this season. My fishing guide service spent very little time even trying to make shad as the crankbait fishing was just fantastic. I don't think we netted shad one time this entire week we just fished crankbaits straight through. Some of the days produced 15 to 25 bass. We have a fantastic crankbait that were are sharing with our clients. Actually a special order Japanese crankbait that were catching all of our fish on and selling to our fishing clients at the end of the day.
