Lake Casitas Bass Fishing Guide Report 2/01/2016 – The lake got some great news with a big band of weather rolling over Lake Casitas on January 31, 2016. I was out guiding that day and it was absolutely amazing how much rain we got that Sunday morning. It was all done for the most part by about noon to 1 o'clock but boy it came down big time. The straight scoop is the fishing remains difficult for most all anglers on the lake and our guide service is definitely struggled and we always want to be honest with our clientele as to the fishing situation. The good news is when we do catch one it's usually a really nice quality fish. The reason we have so much excitement is this reservoir is absolutely famous for producing big fish in the month of February. All of us who fish the reservoir realize that the biggest fish move up first almost every season at Lake Casitas and this year should be no different. Anglers looking to catch a really big fish this is definitely the time they want to book a fishing trip. With the full moon set for February 22 we feel super optimistic in what this month will bring us. We're also seeing huge volumes of Black Cappie on the fishfinder. We're able to scratch away at One or two crappie a day but that fishing should break loose also. We have what looks to be like two weeks of nice weather ahead of us so we could see a pretty dramatic change in the fishing rather quickly. But for the most part we really believe the bass fishing will go wide open in the month of March. With my booth "Rich Tauber Fishing" at the upcoming Long Beach fishing tackle show at the Long Beach convention center. Every year I sell between 60 to 70 fishing guide trips at that show. So anglers interested in booking a fishing trip can call or text me to make your reservation before we book a huge volume of trips at the Long Beach show the first week of March. We are catching the black Croppie on a small white Gitzit crappie jig. We're catching bass on a drop shot plastic worm and a crankbait for the most part. Anglers who would like more information on booking a fishing trip can call or text me at 818-439-1154. Anglers can also go to Rich Tauber Fishing.com
