Lake Casitas has a very nice mix of trout and bass for the holiday season. The most exciting news is that a plant of 4000 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalker trout were planted on Thanksgiving day. All of these trout ranged in size from 2 to 12 pounds. These are absolutely beautiful fish and they are making for a nice mix as we catch the trout while were bass fishing. Meaning that the trout are traveling in very shallow water and since they feed on live shad many of the lure's that we use for bass are also catching these large Nebraska Tailwalkers. If that wasn't good news, Lake Casitas gets another 4000 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalker planted into the lake on December 21st, 2011 . All of the fish that are planted are not fertile fish, meaning that they cannot reproduce. Therefore we encourage our guide clients to keep the fish as they are absolutely fantastic on the grill. The big trout fillet out much like a salmon, and of course we take care of all the fish cleaning for you at the end of the fishing day. We are offering two different fishing trips, one in which we leave at 7am in the morning and fish for a half, or a full 8 hour day. For those that are concerned about the cold temperatures in the morning we are also offering a trip that leaves at 10 AM in the morning and returns to the dock at 2 PM. As always we provide all the fishing tackle necessary for your day. All of your fishing rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you when you arrive. Lake Casitas is absolutely beautiful this time of year. The afternoon temperatures have been in the mid-60's to low 70's. There are very few boats on the water, so it provides a great atmosphere for your fishing guide trip. When you arrive, there will be bottled water, ice, and packaged snacks all on board, all at no extra charge. I know a lot of you have some time off for the holiday season, this is a great time to get the family out fishing. As I said this Southern California lake offers a great mixed bag of trout and bass, and all the fishing is being done casting a variety of artificial lures into the shallow water.
