We continue to have a good steady fishing at Lake Casitas in Southern California. Here it is almost the beginning of July and we still have lots of live shad in the water to net and use for bait for our bass fishing guide clients. It's kind of a wide variety of different techniques that are working right now. For the most part we are fishing with 6 pound test line and the light action spinning rod and nose hooking live shad and fishing it with absolutely no weight. That's far and away the most productive and consistent way to fish. We also half good lure fishing for those anglers that want to fish with topwater baits and a variety of reaction baits. We have caught fish on topwater, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and a wide variety of crankbaits. This is all fishing grass in less than 20 feet of water. So we have a good mix of fishing for anglers and our guide clients are catching fish on a consistent basis. The water temperatures are still in the mid 70's and the air temperatures have increased slightly this week. It looks as though will have temperatures into the mid 80s for the most part in the middle of the day as we reach into the first week of July. We offer half-day fishing trips which are four hours in length and they start at 7 AM and 12 noon. We also offer full day fishing trips that start at 7 AM and return to the dock at 3 PM. As always we provide all of the rods reels and tackle that you will need for the day. We have 2 fishing boats for our bass fishing guide clients at Lake Casitas. One boat is my 21 foot Phoenix bass boat which is perfect for 1-3 anglers. We also have a brand-new 2014 model G3 fishing pontoon boat. This boat is perfect for 3-10 Anglers. The pontoon boat has flat rate pricing. Meaning you can bring as many people as you like and go for a half day of fishing and it's only $350. Once again all of the fishing rods reels and tackle are supplied on both of the boats and there is bottled water ice and package snacks on board each boat at no extra charge. A half day of fishing on the bass boat is only $225. All of our fishing trips are customize for each fishing day. We realize that some trips are set up just based on getting your children to catch their first fish. We have other trips that are far more advanced and completely focus on teaching different techniques to more advanced bass anglers. We can pretty much customize your fishing trip to whatever you're interested in. Lake Casitas is the closest bass fishing lake to Los Angeles California. It's just a one hour drive from downtown Los Angeles to Lake Casitas and offers a great place to get away for the day and do a little fishing and still be able to be back at your home in the afternoon.
