It may not be easy…but we are catching some really big fish right now. That's my basic feeling after this weeks fishing at Lake Casitas in Ventura California. It just seems like we've had very few bites but the bites we get are all in the 4 to 8 pound range. We had a half dozen fish over 7 pounds this week. Boy we are working for them though. We're still setting on the anchor and fishing live shad in the areas we know the fish are cycling in. Same old program here at Lake Casitas but with some patience you can wind up catching one of the biggest fish that you'll catch this season. I will make this clear. If you are interested in catching one of the largest fish that you catch this season you need to book your fishing trip with our guide service right now. I can say that without any hesitation. These are big post spawn female bass gorging themselves on live shad and this is the time to go if that is your focus. To add to this the trout plant midmorning Friday really added to the good vibrations that are going on right now at Lake Casitas. Here is a typical half-day morning trip at Lake Casitas for our guide service right now. This is Rob and his two sons on 4/10/2015 holding up three bass in the 5 to 8 pound range. All these fish were caught a live shad and released back into Lake Casitas alive to fight again another day.
