It's March 27, 2013 and we now have live shad for bait at Lake Casitas! That's right folks I am writing this article after returning from the lake today and officially netting live shad and used it for bait for the first time in the 2013 season. We have been seeing live shad moving around in shallow water for a couple of weeks now and for the first time it's becoming fairly easy to net. As most of you know this is some of the best bass fishing that we will have at Lake Casitas this year. These live shad produce tremendous fishing action and are super fun to fish with. We fly-line the live shad on a spinning rod with 6 pound test line and no weight. People of all ages absolutely love fishing with live shad each and every year. If you're at all interested in booking a fishing trip this is absolutely one of the best times to do so. The water temperature is in the mid-to high 60s now the daytime temperatures have been absolutely beautiful. For those of you that like to fish lures we are still catching fair numbers of bass on the drop shot rig and also sight fishing for shallow water bass in bays and pockets. Our fishing trips begin at 7:30 AM each morning. We also have a fishing trip that leaves at noon and fishes until 4 PM. The full-day fishing trip leaves at 7:30 AM each morning and returns to the dock at 3:30 PM in the afternoon. If you would like to go in and have lunch together as a group I can bring the boat up to the dock so that all of you can get out of the boat and walk up to the Marina Café to have a private lunch together if that is something you would like to do. Each and every day the boat has bottled water, ice, and package stacks on board at no extra charge. Prices range from $225 for one person on a half-day fishing trip, to $400 for two people for a full eight hour bass fishing guide trip. As always all of the rods, reels, and tackle are rigged and ready for you each morning when you arrive.
