Without question this is the very best bass fishing that we have had all year at Castaic Lake. About four weeks ago the shad began to float in shallow water at Castaic Lake. Each and every day we have been able to scoop live shad for our fishing guide clients to fish with. We have had fishing days ranging from 10 to 40 fish a day. We have had several bass up to 8 pounds caught over the last 2 to 3 weeks. This is without question the best time to charter a guided fishing trip to Castaic Lake. We have been fly lining the live shad on 6 pound test line and the number 6 bait holder hook, or a number 4 drop shot hook. The shad vary in size each and every day but I would say a great majority of the bait that we have netted has been upwards of 3 1/2 to 4 inches in length. These larger shad makes for incredible baits when fishing for trophy bass. This is absolutely the best time to take your family, and children on a Castaic Lake fishing guide trip. If you're looking to get someone out on the water to catch their first-ever largemouth bass this is absolutely the time to do so. We have a tremendous band of good warm weather it looks like throughout the month of October. I can also arrange for you to fish in the afternoon if that's better for your schedule. The half-day fishing trips are 4 hour charters. Full-day fishing trips are an 8 hour day. It's actually very simple as all you have to do is come to Castaic Lake where I meet you on the water were my boat is ready and waiting at the main launch ramp. You simply park your car and walk down to waters edge where I will be waiting for you. This live Shad fishing the largemouth bass happens each and every fall.
