As the majority of our fishing guide service is now concentrating on fishing Castaic Lake in Castaic California we have some very good bass fishing and striper fishing as the fish are breaking water all throughout the lake. Large schools of stripe bass and largemouth bass are busting on live threadfin shad all throughout the lake. Some days are better than others. We've noticed some days they break the entire day and other days they only come up sporadically throughout the day. Without question the best fishing has been during the week if possible. Castaic Lake is not receiving a lot of fishing pressure right which is really helping our fishing guide trips. Our plan of attack has been almost exclusively using topwater baits. We of course are netting live threadfin shad to use for bait anytime we see the shad show up in shallow water. Those are definitely the two best plans of attack. You can actually use the topwater bait for the entire day during most of our bass fishing guide trips. Of course if the fish go down we utilize a drop shot plastic worm until we see the fish come up and start to break the surface of the water again. We have half-day fishing trips which are four hours in length and we have full day fishing trip which are eight hours in length. The weather is beginning to cool down nicely as we settle into the fall season. This is a great time of year historically to fish Castaic lake. Some of the best fishing at Castaic Lake has been in the fall. Of course we will have all of your rods reels and tackle ready when you arrive and we have bottled water ice and package snacks on board all of our fishing trips.
