The fishing at Castaic Lake in Castaic California remains fair at best. As most of you are aware the lake level is quite low and for the most part many of our bass fishing charters have been fishing Lake Casitas in Ventura California. The upside is that Castaic Lake will slowly begin to fill as water will come down the California aqueduct and begin to fill the lake at a gradual pace. This really should improve the fishing for our bass fishing guide clients and we are expecting to have some pretty good bass fishing in September and October just like we have had for the last several years. Most of our bass fishing guide trips are scheduled on Lake Casitas because during the summer months there's quite a bit of traffic on Castaic Lake and most anglers would like to fish where it's a bit more quiet and fish on a no body contact lake like Lake Casitas. We have always recommended that we take our bass fishing charters to Castaic Lake during the months of September, October and November due to the fact there's very little boat traffic on the water and for the most part the waterskiing and body contact sports are done for the year. We are offering bass fishing guide trips at Castaic Lake for those that would like to fish Castaic Lake. For the most part these trips have been drop shot and Split shot plastic worms. Light 6 pound test line and a spinning rod has been the best approach when fishing a small shad colored plastic worm from 5 to 25 feet of water. There is also some topwater action as the bass are schooling and chasing shad in shallow water in isolated locations throughout the lake. As always we supply all of the rods reels and tackle that you will need for the day. We have two boats to choose from our state-of-the-art 21 foot Phoenix bass boat and we also have a fishing pontoon boat that is 20 feet in length and is designed specifically for fishing. The pontoon boat will take anywhere from 3 to 10 Anglers is great for families. You can call or text me at 818-439-1154 at any time for more information. Thanks again and good fishing to all.
