Castaic Lake Bass Fishing Guide Report 11/03/2016 – I thought I would give our fishing guide clients an update on all the positive things going on at Castaic Lake in Castaic California. My fishing guide services are focusing most of our efforts here at Castaic Lake and it all began on on March 1 of this year when the lake began receiving an enormous amount of water via the California aqueduct do to the heavy rain and snow pack that we received north of San Jose California. Reservoirs like Shasta and Oroville were overwhelmed with snowpack, run off and rain as of these reservoirs were forced to release their water down the California aqueduct allowing Castaic Lake to rise over 100 vertical feet since March 1 of this year. The lake is absolutely beautiful and full of water and the future looks incredibly bright for castaic lake. As we all know Pyramid Lake amount of water rushing down the aqueduct and flowing through Pyramid Lake and filling Castaic Lake. For people that have not been to either reservoir in a year or more will be shocked when they pull up to see that the launch ramp is almost all the way to the top of the hill. Anglers that fish there know that if they park on the upper deck there only a short walk from their boats which is pretty amazing based on the water levels 2 to 3 years ago. As most of us know stripe bass need current and moving water to spawn and with the tremendous amount of water that flowed through and into Castaic Lake this year all of us really believe that there has been a tremendous spawn for striped bass. It could be the largest population of striped bass that we've had in many many years. Although the fishing is difficult the shad population is absolutely fantastic and the number of striped bass that we believe are in the reservoir could be at record numbers. Many anglers seem to focus on the negative and I wanted to make sure that I brought everyone up to speed on the positives that are going on a Castaic Lake as this lake is absolutely full of water and has a very very bright future. With the drought that's been attacking the western United States the last few years it's great to have a tremendous success story like this. It's a beautiful time of year to fish Castaic Lake as there is little to no water skiers on the lake and it's basically a fisherman's reservoir. We know that in the near future we're going to have some of the best fishing we've ever had in recent history and we're going to keep you informed about that. The lake is full of water and full of shad and has a big huge fantastic launch ramp with parking right at waters edge. We hope to see you all soon.
