A very steady week of action at Castaic Lake which topped off on Sunday, February 22 when Jay Rosenthal (pictures below) visiting from Philadelphia Pennsylvania knocked off a 18 pound striped bass while fishing a Zip Orbit 110 stick bait. We put together a system of locating some stripers that are schooling in open water at Castaic Lake. We are locating schools of striped bass in open water with our custom umbrella rig and doubling back and fishing these open water schools with a large 5 to 6 inch long stick bait. Without question Zip Baits Orbit 110 has been our best weapon. It's kind of a unique way of fishing but it was very productive this week topped by the largest striped bass that our guide service has caught in quite some time. We had absolutely beautiful weather and no wind during the latter part of the week and then Sunday morning we fished under dark gray conditions with a misting rain throughout the day. Typical of striped bass they love that nasty weather as it most always produces great fishing. We had boiling striped bass through the entire day on Sunday, February 22. We're really pleased with the consisting fishing at Castaic Lake and the ultralight crowds. Anglers can also speak with me personally at the upcoming Fred Hall Long Beach fishing tackle show. My booth Rich Tauber Fishing will be in the 400 isle once again at this years show. Below pictured is Jay Rosenthal visiting from Philadelphia Pennsylvania with a beautiful 18 pound striped bass that clubbed a big Orbit 110 stickbait in open water fishing with guide Rich Tauber at Castaic Lake on February 22, 2015. After the photo the fish was released back into Castaic Lake to fight again.
