Crappie fishing has been the name of the game at Lake Casitas in Ventura California. We've had some outstanding crappie fishing at the lake and it looks like it's going to last for quite a bit of time. Most of us at the lake now believe this may be the largest population of crappie that we've had in the Lake since its inception in the mid 50s. I think the large amount of threadfin shad in the lake and a monster crappie spawn last season produced this boom in the crappie fishing at Lake Casitas. Midweek last week the lake was Bluestoned to clear the annual algae bloom that happens at Lake Casitas every year at just about this time. With each passing day the water quality is looking clearer and better and the fishing should improve as the week progresses. These are all big crappie and our clients are real excited about this new opportunity. We're spending half to three quarters of the day fishing crappie and the remainder of our time fishing largemouth bass. Of course our clients are welcome to fish bass the entire time but most of them enjoy the fact that the fishing is good for crappie and of course they can take them home as they are excellent table fair. We have half and full day fishing trips available and you can contact me anytime at 818-439-1154.
