Southern California Fishing Guide Report 12/22/2015 – Pyramid Lake – Well here it is just two days before Christmas and this is our most recent bass fishing guide report for Castaic Lake, Lake Casitas and Pyramid Lake. We have been focusing on two lakes for the most part. All of the anglers that are interested in fishing for striped bass we are taking them to pyramid lake and we have very steady fishing. Probably the only thing that slowed us down with the band of cold weather last week. The mornings are definitely cool. Dress really warm if you choose a bass fishing guide trip with us at Pyramid Lake. Definitely bring gloves and a wool cap and a heavy jacket for the morning. The afternoons are actually really nice. Without question the best fishing is on chunk sardine. We have caught some fish on topwater baits also and of course casting and trolling umbrella rigs has been good from time to time. They're really nice fish most of the striped bass at Pyramid Lake have been in the 4 to 8 pound class. As most of you know who follow these reports we have spent very little time at Castaic Lake this season. With its low water conditions and off colored water the fishing just has not been very consistent for our bass fishing guide clients at Castaic Lake. With all of the rain we're getting in Northern California were expecting a lot of that to come down the California aqueduct and raise the water at Castaic Lake and we're expecting much better fishing next year. The other exciting fishing that we have is at Lake Casitas in Ventura California. Once again Lake Casitas is just a 1 hour drive from Los Angeles and we've had had several trout plants in the last 2 to 3 weeks. They had a plant of 1200 pounds of rainbow trout from the Fillmore hatchery two weeks ago. The lake purchased 5,000 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalker trout which have been planted in the last three weeks. So we've got lots of good size rainbow trout and Tailwalker trout in the lake right now. For people there just interested in catching fish were trying to focus on fishing rainbow trout for the most part. Of course for our super serious bass anglers were of course fishing largemouth bass the entire day. It just gives us nice flexibility so if people bring family or friends that just want to catch a big trout to take home for dinner we can provide that service. As always groups of 1 to 2 people will fish in my Phoenix 721 bass boat. For groups of people we have our brand-new G3 fishing pontoon boat which is great for groups of 3 to 10 people. As always we have all of your rods reels and tackle ready when you arrive in the morning. There is bottled water ice and package snacks on board all of our fishing trips at no extra charge.
