Exciting week for us at Lake Casitas as we had two bass over 7 pounds both of them came on topwater baits. Water temperature is 71°. There are shad that can be netted for those that do net live shad there’s a couple of good locations to get them each and every day and most of the shad that we have netted are in that 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch range so they’re good size baits. We had three trips this week where the clients caught over 40 fish in just a couple hours of fishing at times it was basically a fish every cast with live shad. Plastic worm fishing really is the main stay as it has been for several months now you can still catch lots and lots of fish anywhere from 2 to 20 feet of water most of them in those open areas between the bushes. The bluegill are moving around in schools so they’re in that 15 to 20 foot range. A piece of night crawler fished with a split shot has been best just try different different locations until you locate them then the fishing can be really steady. www.richtauberfishing.com
