Lake Piru is the spot to be this Summer! That's right Lake Piru. As most of you know I was busy fishing the U.S. Open at Lake Mead in Nevada for most of July. I was able to catch one of the largest bags of fish the last day and finished 18th, my third straight top 20 finish in the "Western Super Bowl of Bassin" Now I am back and working at Lake Piru. The fishing has been very good. It's all lure fishing, no shad are up, or avaiable to net. No worries though, it been real fun with a combination of "speed" baits. What I mean is topwater, buzzbait, crankbait, and spinnerbait. All the fish are "up" in the water column. We are fishing from the surface down to about 10-12 feet deep. The fish are suspended and following schools of bait in open water for the most part. We have been catching lot's of fish off birds. Meaning that we watch the Grebs, which tell you where the bass are. We are starting every morning at 6am. My boat is tied to the bock in the marina. You can drive your car almost right up to the boat, walk a few steps, and get on board. As always I have everything you need, rods, reels, and all the hot lures. There is a wonderful resturant "Pancho's" and a super Ice Cream Parlor right there in the town of Piru if you would like to dock the boat have lunch. As always I have ice, soda, bottled water, and packaged snacks on board the boat each and every day. The lake level is very high, darn near full. The water is super clear with lot's of great grass beds to pitch your topwater baits around. I am avaiable 7 days a week, and I have half day trips for those of you who would like to just fish for 4 hours in the morning. Right now, Lake Piru is the best bassin spot in Southern California.
