Lake Piru remains the Southern California surprise lake of 2010. It's sort of the perfect storm, heavy rains last winter and farmers from the surrounding area not needing to buy water from Lake Piru for there crops. Here it is mid September and the lake is still just a few feet from being full. The water is crystal clear with tons of grass growing up from as much as 15 feet of water. My clients have just had a ball fishing topwater baits all day long. That's right, no need for anything but a buzzbait, Zip Irony, frog, and chugger. Sure you could go out and catch fish deep, but the topwater thing is too much fun. All the big fish have come from shallow water, less than 15 feet. School is back in session and the lake has little to no boat traffic. On a weekday it is sort of like a private lake. The lake opens at 6:30 am and I am meeting my clients in the marina at 7am each morning. You can park your car right next to the water, walk a few steps to where my boat will be waiting, and ready to go. I have a real neat technique for kids and beginners to catch fish on crankbaits, so it's a great time to bring the kids also. The morning is cool, and the afternoons have been beautiful. I am open for business 7 days a week, so give me a call and let's get you out on Lake Piru. It's a short drive from Los Angeles and the fishing is very good. You can call me at (818) 439-1154, it's my personal cell phone, and I can answer any questions that you might have. You can also go to the top of the page a click the "contact Rich" page. No need for a deposit, just let me know the day you want to go fishing and we are set. Good fishing, and hope to hear from you soon.
