Fantastic striper fishing is the only way to describe it! Pyramid Lake been the hotspot for striped bass for about the last three weeks now. The fish began boiling, and crashing the surface feeding on live shad around the first day of August. With water temperatures in the mid-70s, it is been pretty much an all day affair. The best action has been early but the stripers continue to boil most days until around 10:30 in the morning. The best bite without question has been in the Yellow Bar area, but there are lots of stripers out in open water in the main body of the Lake. The best part about this is it gives my bass fishng guide clients a great opportunity to have lots of action, but also be able to bring home as many fish as they like to eat at the end of the fishing day. The striped bass are super tasty at the end of a long hard fishing day. We are starting each morning at 7 AM. It's all top water fishing. Which makes it really fun casting at actively boiling stripers as they get after those Thredfin Shad. The best bait without question has been a Heddon Super Spook. What's really nice about Pyramid Lake right now is that after catching the stripers in the morning my guide clients are able to cast white spinnerbaits in shallow water grass beds for largemouth bass. This makes for really great day, as you get the wide open striper action in the morning and then a nice chip at the largemouth bass in the afternoon. Most of the kids are back in school, so boat traffic on the Lake has been minimal. As we all know this has been a very mild summer, so afternoon temperatures have been a comfortable 80° or so each day. When you book your trip, all your drinks, bottled water, and soda are iced down and ready to go when you arrive in the morning. There are also packaged snacks on board, all at no extra charge. Prices range from $275-$375 for a full-day fishing trip depending on the number of people that will be going. Of course you will fish out of my brand-new 2010 model year Phoenix Bass Boat. We have waited all year for the striped bass to show up, and boy did they show up. This is an excellent time to book a fishing trip, and one of the most exciting times of the year to go fishing. What's really great about booking a trip right now is you get that great opportunity at the striped bass in the morning and the largemouth bass in the afternoon. You can book your trip by going to the "Contact Rich Tauber" link at the top of the page. You can also call me on my personal mobile phone at (818) 439-1154. My fishing guide service is open 7 days a week. I really look forward to hearing from you and getting you out on Pyramid Lake as it is one of Southern California's very best fisheries.
