Yes we still have live shad to fish with at Lake Casitas. How much longer the live shad will stay around is the big question. It's very hard to tell because they're such a huge body of shad in the water at the current time. If I had to guess I would say up until around August 15, but once again this is a guess. We are using a combination of artificial lures and live shad on all the fishing trips. We are starting out each morning fishing a variety of top water lures. Then keeping our eyes open and trying to net some live bait in the midmorning hours and fishing that during the remainder of the day. The fishing is been very good on some days, and a little tougher on others. We feel as long as there are large volumes of shad in the water there's always a chance of having one of those very special fishing days. The water temperature is now in the mid-70s, and there are weed beds growing all over the lake which makes for wonderful targets while fishing top water in the mornings. We all know that the kids are out of school for the summer so this is a wonderful time for you to bring your family out to Lake Casitas for a wonderful morning or afternoon of bass fishing. A bass fishing guide trip is a wonderful way to get you to the fish right away and make sure that your family learns all the basic fundamentals of freshwater fishing. We have half day trips which are 4 hours and leave at 7am in the morning, and 12 noon. We have full-day (8 hour) trips available which leave at 7am and return to the dock at 3pm. Once again all of your rods, reels, and tackle will be ready for you when you arrive. There will be bottled water, ice, and packaged snacks on board all at no extra charge. Like I said this is absolutely the best time of year to go fishing. You can e-mail me at the "Contact Rich Tauber" link at the top of the page. You can also call or text me on my personal cell phone at (818) 439-1154. We look forward to hearing from you and getting you on the water during this special time of year.
