Here it is late August and we still continue to have very good fishing here at Lake Casitas in Ventura California. The fishing has been an absolute smorgasbord as far as techniques go. People are catching bass on topwater plugs to drop shot plastic worms fished in 25 feet of water. And what's crazy just about everything in between also. Bass are being caught on crank baits, spinner baits, and jigs. It's kind of been one of those deals where you can pick your poison and go from there. For the most part I have been taking my bass fishing guide clients top water fishing for about an hour each morning, and then spending the rest of the day fishing a drop shot plastic worm in 20 feet of water. When I have real young anglers on board I have also caught good numbers of 3 to 5 pound bass trolling a big white deep diving crank bait in that 20 foot region also. There's little to no fishing pressure on the lake right now. And with school starting on the 27th of this month the angling pressure will be even lighter. We still have openings for the Labor Day weekend so if any of you are interested in getting out fishing you can reach me at [email protected]. We have fishing trips leaving every morning at 7am and we are meeting our clients inside of the Marina Café each morning prior to the fishing trips. As most of you know the Marina Café opens at 6am for breakfast and cooks just about the best breakfast in town. It's a great place to come and grab something to eat prior to going out on your fishing trip at Lake Casitas. We also have a trip that leaves at 12 noon and you can fish for a full day which is eight hours, or you can just go out for a half of the day which is four hours of fishing. You should definitely bring a jacket if you go out on the early morning trip but after the morning chill wears off the weather has been absolutely beautiful at Lake Casitas. Lake Casitas is a no body contact lake and this makes for a really quiet and peaceful way to spend a day bass fishing at one of Southern California's best bass fishing lakes. When you arrive for your bass fishing guide trip all your rods reels and tackle will be ready and there is always bottled water, ice, and packaged snacks on board every fishing trip. So the fishing is good and it's a great time to book your guided fishing trip at Lake Casitas. Lake Casitas is only a one hour drive from the Los Angeles area.
