The new breaking news at Lake Casitas is the fish have moved shallow for our bass fishing guide clients. We noticed that in the last 5 to 6 days the fish that had been in deepwater off the ends of points and on outside structure quit biting. Well it's a pretty quick adjustment when you stop catching fish and you have to try new things. We moved our clients into shallow water all this week and caught tremendous numbers of fish in 1 to 4 feet of water. The fishing changed really quickly and we're not quite sure why but boy our bass fishing guide clients at Lake Casitas were reworded with great quality and great numbers of fish up in the shallow grass of Lake Casitas. The best lures have been a topwater bait first thing in the morning. We noticed that the water started to clear quite a bit in the last 8 to 10 days. It's our belief that the topwater fishing has improved due to this new influx of clear water. When I say influx I don't mean from outside sources like rain I'm talking about water that got cleared due to the expansion of grass beds in the lake. The grass works as a filter to keep the water clear. And the grass beds have increased and therefore the water has gotten clearer. A topwater chugger or walking bait is wonderful first thing in the morning. If you have a marine layer it's even better. We also have caught big numbers of fish on floating matts and grass on the topwater frog. There's also a wonderful bite on a white chatterbait and 1 to 5 feet of water. And there are good friends of mine there are still catching fish speed fishing a shallow water crankbait and 1 to 5 of water on the outside edges of the grass. We have openings and we will be fishing at Lake Casitas through the end of September. This is a great time to call us and book your bass fishing trip here at Lake Casitas in Southern California. Our fishing trips can be customized to your liking. Most days we start our fishing day at 7 AM. Many of our clients utilize the Marina Café as it is open for breakfast at 6 AM each morning.
