The tremendous fishing for our guide clients continues at Pyramid Lake as striped bass are putting on quite a show and breaking on schools of baitfish throughout the day. There are two primary patterns that are most productive. First and the most popular anglers chase the breaking and boiling schools of stripe bass that are busting on threadfin shad all over the lake. There is no definitive time for the surface activity. The stripers are breaking all throughout the day at various places throughout the lake. Most anglers choose to cast topwater plugs and many are just using a Kastmaster and firing away at these boiling stripers. The second technique is netting live threadfin shad and fly lining or using a small buckshot on light line. There is an amazing amount of bait in Shallow water working through the grass beds all throughout the lake. The water level at Pyramid Lake has been at a very high-level this year and therefore lots of grass growing in shallow water allow the shad to stay up on the bank and are quite easy to access for those that want to net live bait.
