What a fantastic January this has been. What's most impressive it is how steady the striped bass fishing has been at Castaic Lake. These fish have held steady in that 60 to 70 foot level for the entire winter making it absolutely perfect for umbrella rig fishing. This morning Saturday January 24, 2015 we have 12 fish all ranging in the 3 to 5 pound class. My clients went home with over 45 pounds of striped bass. Excellent fishing and it's not time sensitive. These fish bite consistently throughout the day and this has been on the pattern for almost 6 weeks now. The beautiful thing is that the boat traffic remains ultralight and every client that books a fishing trip leaves with lots of fish. We did not receive a trout plant this week. Water temperatures remain steady at 55°. The lake was open every single day this week. Anglers have talked about debris on the launch ramp that but that has not presented a problem for the last week and a half. Anglers interested in booking a fishing guide trip to take advantage of this excellent striped bass fishing can call or text me at anytime at 818-439-1154. Below is Andy and his son Leo enjoying a wonderful day at Castaic Lake on Saturday, January 24, 2015. This is pretty typical of the fishing and this is one of over a dozen fish caught on one of our all day fishing guide trips utilizing a custom umbrella rig trolled in 40 to 50 feet of water.
