Lake Casitas fishing report September 18, 2025 once again the steady fishing continues at Lake Casitas without question the hot deal is fish breaking in open water we have two or three areas located that the majority of the fish are breaking in this is not a time sensitive technique. You basically will see fish breaking from sunup till sundown and sometimes the afternoon is even better then the morning or evening. A Basstrix swimbait has absolutely carried us through this entire process which has been going on for close to four months now. I remember last year this lasted all the way through the Thanksgiving holiday so I expect it to continue. Anglers can also catch fish in deeper water on any variety of bait from plastic worm to jig in deep water but we haven’t focused on that myself and Steve Morris have both been guiding our clients at Casitas fishing open water breaking fish with a spinning rod 8 pound test line and a Basstrix swimbait.
